This started a few weeks ago. Cooled starts rough and once warm runs fine. Once HOT engine surges ONLY in gear. If I place the car in neutral it stops. I just replaced my alternator, thermostat. I checked for shorts on wires for the temp sensor, and replaced the volt regulator. But, agai n this only happens once the engine is hot not cold or warm. I can drive about two miles and it begins. my next thought was to change the trans fluid and filter. I was just told to look for a vacuum leak on the carb. base to use break cleaner and spray around the carb to see if it idles up. Looking for any helpful hints. Thanks |

Safety Alert:Please NEVER NEVER USE BRAKE CKEANER where is going to be combusted! Chlorinated whatever the rest of the compound 's name is will turn into a deadly chlorine gas derivative not unlike what was use in WWI... Just a whiff of the combustion product will cause nerve damage. Instead use carburetor cleaner or water when locating vacuum leaks. |
