Factory service manual and basic hand tools. The ATSG service group book is pretty good too.

The 904/727 family of transmissions is so simple that I taught myself how to rebuild them by reading the factory service maual and the ATSG service group. The only potential specialty tool you might need is the spring pack compressor tool, but I use a couple clamps and was able to rebuild three 904s with little problem.

Scroll down for the book and DVD. That place sells just about everything you need to rebuild your 904.
