Hi Guys, I am once again trying to get a combination Ujoint to mate my Dart drive shaft to the Granada rear. The formula according to Lou is this:

I need a u-joint to combine a 7260 (mopar) one one axis and a 1989 era Mustang era ujoint on the other, then put a 1892 era Ujoint caps on the Mustang axis of the combo joint.

I am trying to order this from Denny's drive shaft shop. The problem is they do not sell ujoints by model and year, only by number, and I do not know the number for the 1989 ear Mustang joint. The only combos Denny lists for the 7260 is the 1310 to 7260 and the 1330 to 7260.

Does anybody know if the 1310 or the 1330 will fit this Granada rear, or if the Maverick caps will fit either of those? I will do further checking. Thanks.

Sam

I've done a little looking further, and Denny's sells a 1310 to 1330 ujoint, which they say is to match up a 1320 style Mustang shaft to a 1330 style Mustang tranny. So I have at least identified these as Mustang numbers. Does anybody know if the 1310 will fit the Granada, or Maverick?

My Exploder 8.8 has a late model u joint 1330

I think 1310 is the early Ford style.

I have a A body to 1330 ujoint in my old Valaint driveshaft......might be a NAPA 355 (long shot I remember that right).....no caps need to be swapped

Sandy has a pretty good memory. Here is a link and it has some measurements that may help

Maybe I will go buy a 1310 at NAPA and see if it fits the Ford rear. If it does, I can return it, and then Denny's 7260 to 1310.

If you are having a driveshaft made, why not have the Ford "ears" put on the rear of the driveshaft, and use a stock Ford u-joint that can be purchased at any part store? KISS Theory.

When I bought my 8 inch Ford rear it had about a foot of the driveshaft still attached to it. When I get ready to install, I will take this section of shaft, to the driveshaft shop, and have the "ears" put on the Mopar shaft.

Sorry Sandy, I thought I understood your later post to say that was the GM one. I did not even look at it closely. I see that this is the 7260x1310. I was in too big a hurry, doing too many things. Thanks.

Charlie, I was going to do that, but the Gear Vendors OD unit requires shortening the shaft, and I kind of wanted to get the rear in and try that out before going ahead with the OD inst all. One change at a time kind of thing. When the rear works and all is well regarding alignment of rear angle (new springs going in too), then I will go ahead and install the OS and do the entire driveshaft mod. At the time I may have the Ford end cap put on.

I just went through this on my DeSoto project. I elected to change the rear yoke instead of using a combo joint. The new yoke was $35 (1330)

Sandy, when I have the shaft shortened, I will do what you and others advise. This combo ujoint is a cheap temporary thing to check the rear before moving forward.
