The fluid in the power steering pump of my '60 Valiant is red in color. Looks very similar to trans fluid.

Taking inventory of some of my automotive fluids and I found a bottle of Prestone power steering fluid. Popped the top and it is clear.

Ok to add to the red I have, or is there a different brand/type I should be using to add to what's already in the pump? I have no idea what brand is in there - way back when I didn't used to pay attention to such things.

Chrysler had a P/S fluid available. As far as I know the factory did not want ATF in there. Remove the red stuff, and flush it, add correct (designated) P/S fluid. My 2 ¢.

Go ahead and save that weird car, the sedan, the 6 cylinder, the C-Body. If you want a big block musclecar and that's all you care about, your missing the point.
