Post subject:  Upgrading the reverse lights - where to tap power

I am upgrading the reverse lights on my truck. The stock lights were weak to begin with and the PO cut the wiring and added a single spot light.

I am planning on running a set of 55w halogen driving lights. I know that I will need to use a relay and run an upgraded power wire to the rear of the truck.

The best place under the hood to draw power and tap the signal wire from is on the drivers side.

Should I:

a) tap straight from the battery (with inline fuse)
b) Tap off starter relay (with inline fuse)
c) find a place in the cab to tap full voltage

Any and all suggestions are welcome

Thanks

Dennis

Save yourself a lot of hassle and aggravation and wind up with a better, more usable, and safe/street-legal result: skip the 55w halogen lamps. Put two of these (specific!) lamps in two of these brackets. The two lamps together will take a whole lot less current than one conventional back-up light bulb, so no need for a relay or power tap, extra fuse, etc.
