Post subject:  Fuel guage ground strap

My 62 Valiant uses the metal ground strip.

Is there a better solution to ground the sender unit than using the metal strip?

How about a terminal on a wire to put onto the sender tab, and then a ring terminal on the other end with a sheet metal screw direct to chassis?

H'mm. A solution better than the metal clip strap which has worked fine on your Valiant and zillions of other cars like it for over half a century. H'mm.

Sorry, I got nuthin'.

Now you got me to wondering what are the symptoms/issues experienced by the OP....

If you don't have the clip, a length of the woven steel sheathing that surrounds good quality coax cable can be clamped to the sender.

Thanks for the feedback. I "worked" on the strap to get a good ground on the fuel line and now my guage reads OK.

I had the same problem and used a couple pieces of wire hose clamped together. That worked for awhile then died. Then I cleaned the dirt and gunk and sanded the lines and installed a new clip and presto, life's been good ever since. Glad ya fixed it!
