I took a 255 mile round trip this weekend to Clay City, Kentucky and took my all stock '74 Duster with 198 slant 6 and auto trans. It averaged just under 20MPG's all highway with speeds at @70mph including the racing it did at the strip. I think it did great and has potential for even better mpg's had I been a bit more conservative with the peddle. Best I/4 mile time at the strip was 20.31 @ 67mph....wooohooo. Interestingly all the 1/8 mile runs were at 53mph and all the 1/4 mile runs it did 67 mph. I guess when you consider the weight of the '74 it's not too bad. The '62 Valiant 170/auto was running in the slant 6 races ran just about identical times in the 1/4, what a neat car that is!
I'll share some pics of the 198 powered beast if someone will post them for me. Thanks!
