Looking to upgrade from my 7 1/4" SBP rear but need some questions answered.

How much horsepower would require me to move all the way up to an 8 3/4"?

Are there any swap options that would allow me to keep my SBP 13" wheels? (I'm guess not, but maybe there is hope?)

The only axle that might work with the 13" rims is the 8 3/4 SBP axle from a '66 to '72
A-body. But if you are worried about breaking your current axle then you will also want to upgrade from 13" rims along with the axle.

I'm less interested in keeping the wheels as I am with keeping the hub caps. Perhaps there are some 14" LBP wheels that will work with my 13" hub caps?

How much horsepower can an 8 1/4 handle? I'm guessing more than my needs (I have no foreseeable plans to exceed 350bhp).

the 8 1/4 rears are plenty strong, as light as your car is I'm not sure you could break it without drag slicks.
