Detail as much as I can and maybe add to FAQ as well
I'll edit the posts w the changes as I go to keep from having pages of stuff w the minor changes. IE, if I start w a 61 jet and move up to 63, I'll edit the carb post. Add a part, I'll edit the parts list and so on.

Full details of the truck located here:
http://slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php ... sc&start=0

84 D150
833OD
3:55 rear
Unknown details on rebuilt engine other than:
Hydro block
Mechanical head and valve train
040 over bore
Stock exhaust
Super six intake
Carter bbd
GM HEI

Next post I'll make a parts list and the prices if I can find all of them.
Stay Tuned

Momma said there'd be days like this...but she didn't say there'd be that damn many! Lol
Went to ivy tech automotive instructor about building one of the 904s I got from you and I spent the next 20 min w him and another guy explaining all the things I can't do and all the things I have to do to make this work. Like "well you will have to have an msd btm for timing or it just won't work"
"That carb will be too small to even support 5psi, it won't flow enough"
" can't just limit your timing to 18* bc it will fall on its face till it gets enough rpm."
And so on... So I got two words for them since I've read shakers build and many others. It can be done and I'll prove it by driving it down there w the 833 for fun.

WH1C turbo -free
WH1C rebuild kit- $30
Holley 350
Holley 500 - $110
Mech fuel pump- $20
Walbro 255 elec fuel pump- $91
Inline fuel filter 3/8 in/out-
SQV blow off valve- $69
Mr Gasket #1937- $20
Specter Carb Hat- $99 speedway
Hx35 gaskets- $9
Hx35 flange w mount tabs- $35
Exhaust flange- $1.25 (guy machined it for a diet Pepsi)
Innovate LC1 wideband- $125ish
O2 bung- $6
HX35 down pipe- $20 scrap yard
Aero motive 13301 afpr-$135
Boost vacuum gage -
Holley rebuild kit- $32
Holley bowl to 6an fuel fitting- $10
3' braided stainless fuel line- $9
10-60V 15A PWM board- $13
GM 2bar map sensor- $32
31x12x3 FMIC 3" in/out- $102
Inter cooler pipe kit-$119
4" to 3" coupling- $20

TOTAL: OVER $1100!!

And this is even having free turbo and other odds n ends.

Post subject:  Holley CArb Mods

I'll start w the holley 350 and move up if/when needed.
Image

I followed the hangar 18 mods based on this site:
http://www.hangar18fabrication.com/blowthru.html

Using a die grinder and cutoff wheel to remove the horn, then some sanding discs. Looks kinda rough at first.
Image

Used a dremel w various attachments to smooth it the best I could
Image

I'll start w a 61 jet, 30 shooter, and 4.5 PV.
Haven't messed w the size of PV restricters...yet.

Edit 12//12/14: took 61's into work and drilled them for a 63/64 size. I'll get bit size tomorrow. Also changed PV to 8.5. Bit size: .0635
Idle 14-14.5 afr
55-65 10" ish of vacuum and 15-15.5 afr
Matted to floor 11.8-12.5 afr
Pvcr untouched. Factory: .055

Edit: 12/20/14
drilled PVCR first to .0595 then .0635

Post subject:  Mechanical fuel pump boost ref.

Going mech first and get it going, once that's up and running say 5# then I'll switch to electric and afpr to make a more solid commitment w more boost.

I simply went to Autozone and bought a mech fuel pump for 84 dodge D150. Check it before you leave to make sure you got the right one.

Drilled the small atmosphere hole, then tapped it for the 1/8 nylon hose fitting. Fitting and hose free, don't ask.

Can you give me some details of how it performs, like x amout of boost at x rpm etc etc. driving charachteristics and so on. Get an idea of how a wh1c is.

It had the hole, i was just clearing up to check the part and if someone looks to follow my process to match the part to what I used and so on.

its much quieter then the little china turbo i started with. 20psi@3000-3500rpm. i dont pay to much attention to the tach unless i have a problem. ill try and take note of the spooling rpm next time i have it out. the spool is good and hard. @20psi its pushing pretty cool air. the cold side of the turbo is only slightly warm and the turbo side of my intercooler is cool.

Post subject:  Turbo update

Took most of the turbo in and tried to clean the best I could.
Also drilled a hole in the divided housing so that the wastegate can also bleed off both sides.
Rebuild kit came in today so I'll take the main center section in and work on it tomorrow.
Also began making a bracket for the wastegate. I'm using a spring to offset the 18psi wastegate. That way I can start out at 0, tune for N/A and work my way up. When it's done I'll do a write up on it as well.
Not much for parts left to order. Some things I'm holding off on just so I can get it tore down and back together w minimal down time.

whats up with that crazy looking turbo flange? is the extra for mounts?

Author:  Ssg Pohlman [ Mon Dec 08, 2014 1:45 am ]
Post subject:  Turbo flange

Yes, that is correct. It has two tabs w holes drilled and tapped just in case you want an extra brace or maybe something else like a flux capacitor!!
