The items used in converting my points system to the HEI system were purchased much earlier from another member on this site. Researching the topic only adds to my confusion at times. A single wire is attached to "C" on my Standard-Bluestreak LX-301 module and to the negative side of my FD-478X coil. Simple enough, but a second wire begins at the negative side of the coil and was cut off about 10" or so from the coil. I'm thinking maybe the prior owner used this wire to attach his tach? Am I on the right track? If that is the case I will remove the extra wire. Again, thanks for any help you might provide.

Last night I made time to reread every post on this site relative to the HEI swap. Had I taken the time earlier to do this I would not have posted this question. In Matt Cramer's post of December 29, 2007 he wrote, "The only wires you'll have going to the negative terminal of the coil will be the wires to the HEI module, and if you have one, the tach." Then, olafla's post of July 13, 2010 stated, "...for your FD 478 coil...it will have two green wires running from the negative (-) terminal. One of them is connected to terminal C on the ignition module, and the other can be used for attaching a rev counter." Got my answer. Thank you!

The number of posts on HEI are steadily growing, and reading all at once is quite a job! Glad to know you made it work! :D
