Post subject:  Stock Cylinder head thickness - head to valve cover?

Hello, head is dropped off at machine shop. What is the stock head thickness from the head mating surface to the valve cover on a drool tube head? I need to know if it has been machined before - I want to have .065 milled off. . .Thanks!

If you installed O/S valves or did chamber work, you will have to CC the head, as that work has a tendency to change the volume compared to just using a stock head with no valve work...If you are having this kind of work done, head thickness won't matter, CC the head, apply the .0066=1cc rule to the cut and adjust the cut per your SCR calculation.

Good Luck,

Ok, will do. Yes, OS intake and yes a tiny bit of chamber work. Wanted to make sure the head hadn't been cut before. I'll get a chamber volume after they put in the new valves.
