  • Hello everyone,

I installed an offenhauser 2x1 into the wagon. I ended up ditching the poorly installed cable set up as it mad the obnoxious habit of sticking open. I couldn't seem to find where the cable's geometry was binding so I decided to go back to the original design. The directions that came with the intake and linkage kit assumed I had the rod style anyhow. I was able to find the appropriate rod linkage. Installation went without a hitch. It's a 66 so all the holes and mounting parts were there already. All is well except the spring I have is not quite up to the task. I frankly don't even remember where I got this spring I'm using. I'd like to use a dual spring type throttle return spring.

The question: Actually I'm just looking for a recommendation. I know everyone has an opinion on every tiny thing. Those opinions are nearly always based on experience. That's one of the reasons I love this site. Like the old saying goes "A wise man learns from his mistakes; a wiser man learns from someone else's mistakes."

Most auto parts stores sell dual throttle return spring kits that can be bent to whatever length you need.

Such as Napa Balkamp part number: BK 7354714 or NOE 7321005

What carbs did you install? 2 stock 1bbls or the Langdon 32DFT Carter/Weber pair?

Thanks Reed. That's a good tip. I was just concerned that there was something I was overlooking.
I installed a pair of matched Holley 1920s. They're just so danged easy to rebuild. I acquired a box of carbs that had lived under a retired mechanic's house for 20 plus years. There's a big Holley 4 barrel that should cover the cost of the lot . My arm still hurts from patting myself on the back.
