I just bought a '74 Swinger that came with some "new" E-tron brand spark plug wires in the trunk. The box says they fit the 225ci engine from 1972-1983 except 1974. My question is what could be different about 1974 compared to the years before and after? |

Do they have round 'caps' at the top of the plug boots? |

I think what both responders are saying is the difference is the rubber caps that would keep stuff out of the area around the plug. 5 of my old wires have those but these new ones do not. So what was different about 1974? Here are some pictures: ![]() ![]() |

I'd not use these off-brand wires unless I were in a desperate situation (vehicle off the road, need any functional wire to get the car going). Plug wires aren't necessarily on my list of "buy the best I possibly can" -- that list is tires, brakes, eyeglasses, and shoes -- but plug wires are on my "I'd rather buy better quality and not have to think about them again for a long time" list. |
