Post subject:  choke control connections

While I was changing the spark plug wires on my new '74 Swinger, I noticed a long gray wire hanging over the valve cover and down by the distributor, but not connected to anything. It comes from this little white box labeled "6841 CHOKE CONTRO" (no L?) and I wonder what it is supposed to be connected to. Shop manual says the electric choke control should be connected to the electric choke heater, J2 (dark blue), and ground, but I don't know what J2 is.

Based on the "BAT" label and the black connector, I wonder if it's supposed to be connected to the battery's negative terminal? The wire is long enough to reach the battery.

Dark blue is usually ignition + feed. This wire usually runs to
the dark blue ballast resistor wire or the dark blue alternator field wire. Both of these are ignition feeds. Look for connections at those locations.

Ha, never mind. Turns out the wire hanging down by the distributor is not the same wire that comes off the electric choke heat controller. Both wires are the same color and are bundled together, but they are different gauges. The wire hanging down actually goes to the oil pressure sensor. So it was routed to the right general area but disconnected.

This is how it should be wired.
