Good going. When I did mine,way back when, I was pleasantly surprised at the boost in power. I was able to use an intake tube off a turbo car and get fresh air from in front of the core support. What carb you gonna use? Is that A-100 a work truck or to be restored? Those things are rare.

I am going to install a two bbl because my truck is too slow. Aside from the hideous paint job that will have to go some day, the restoration is to mechanical reliability and drivability. I'm running 5 1/2 cylinders right now which is what is prompting the head-manifold swap. Whilst adj the #1 cyl exh valve, at the correct clearance, with the feeler gauge inserted the rpm increases. When I remove the gauge the rpm drops. Manual lifters obviously.

Just a work truck. Since I am addicted to old Brit bikes I need something to go and retrive them when they break.

Jeffs, I still have a Weber 38/38 very close by you if you make the swap to 2bbl and want a nice carb. It came off my car when I went turbo.

I like the truck. I almost got one like it in Martinez, but it sold while I was driving over there. guess it wasn't going to stay available at $800 anyway...

Nice little truck! However, you will have a problem with the air cleaner in the A-100 if you try to use the factory original two barrel air cleaner. The engine cover on Dodge vans equipped with a slant six used a special offset air cleaner to clear the engine cover. No A100 ever came with a slant six and a two barrel from the factory, and very few B series vans did. Your best bet for running a decent air filter is the solution that has been mentioned above- get the intake ducting from a later model fuel injected vehicle and mount the tube on the carb and the airbox up by the grille to get cool air instead of hot engine box air.

As far as power goes, I would look at the ignition advance systems first. Fine tune the timing advance curve and the vacuum advance. I would also dump the points system and convert to HEI. Also, I wouldn't make the engine much more powerful than stock before converting the brake master cylinder to a dual chamber version.

Ah another A-100 fan. Well as you would imagine, since Chrysler lost money on every Barracuda in '64-'65 they had to make up for it somewhere. After making my Sportsman 108 go way too fast for the brakes I came to realize that, in the mid-engine / cabover design, the drivers legs and torso are the car's 'crumple' zone.
Thank you for the offer, but a 38/38 is not required for the type power I need. I have a 32/36 that would be screamin' good for milage but I am going to start out with the bbd I just rebuilt. I agonized over the worn out throttle shaft for so long before getting the tools out and doing the job, I have to install it now just to say I did. And the linkage is more or less a bolt-on.

What I like best about the A-100 series ( is there an abbv for these? ) believe it or not is that they go around corners. The long van is better than this truck partially because of the anti-sway bar (my next mod ) but with a couple of bikes in the back or a load of 'garden gold' these things really corner well. The back is so light unloaded the factory bolted in a nice big block of lead center behind the fuel tank in case they were driven 'lite'. Just the lead is worth a fortune these days, no wonder the deal was done before you could get there.

Wouldn't say I was really looking for a a-100. I was mainly trying to get the more truck style 100, but saw one with a full wood rack, and kind of rusty for $800 and went to get it. Gone. Still looking for a slant six truck that's pre 1975.

If you ever need help getting the setup together, I'm near Vallejo. Probably seen my Dart around when I worked in Vallejo.
