 Post subject: a727 reverse

my a727 does not do go right into reverse..it sits and after a few revs it locks in ...forward gears all shift properly
any ideas????

usally once it been shifted into reverse it work right

First thing would be to check the seals on the servo for the rear band. Also, it could be as simple as the rear band out of adjustment.

Unless the pan is full of trash when you drop it. :?

Could be a lot of converter "drain-back" so the system needs a moment to refill the converter...
Try shifting to neutral first, wait a moment, then to reverse... does that help?

Also,
Reverse takes a lot of hydraulic fluid flow and pressure so be sure the fluid & filter are clean...
After all that, run a pressure check and trouble-shoot from there.

repositioned kickdown and found out do not have drive gear ...just revs

changed fluid and filter ..readjusted bands ...no change ...now it leaks also....found another to replace with

picking up trans on Tuesday and getting it installed on Friday $250 for trans and $300 to install ...getting old sucks ...in younger days would of done by self and even saved $75 by taking it out of junkyard truck
keep on roddin'
