| Post subject: | wrench for bleeding front drum brakes? |
Has anyone found a wrench that is good for opening and closing the bleeders on the front drums of the "9-inch" brakes (on a '74 Dart in my case)? I bought the Autocraft one from Advance Auto Parts and it's too straight. My regular 5/16 box wrench is pretty short, but I still can't get it in there. The Lisle wrench from Amazon looks like it might have a better angle, but it's hard to tell from the picture. What works for you?

How about a 1/4" drive ratchet with an extension and a 1/4" socket? |

Break it loose with 6pt small socket. Then you can use open while bleeding. Fully tighten with socket. |

There is an Snap-On type that is made for this, PN S8184. There are several for sale on eBay; here the least expensive one but the bidding is up in 9 hours; there are others for more $$. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SNAP-ON-TOOLS-5 ... 1239930625 It is still in the catalog by the way; page 542. |

Take a torch and bend the wrench to work for what you need. |

Thanks for all the replies. I actually tried bending the wrench I have. I looked around and some said do it hot, some said cold. I don't have a torch, so I just put it in a vise and squeezed. It might have worked, but I tried to go a little too far and cracked it. Lesson learned: practice on the end you don't need, before doing the end you need. <facepalm> +1 for the speed bleeders link, by the way. Cool idea. |

I'm sure emsvitil is right, but I bought the Snap-On bleeder wrench off eBay and it really made the job easy. |
