Post subject: | 1960 Valiant and Super Six QUESTION |
I have a 1960 Valiant and it has the 170 /6. A friend of mine was working on a dart until i they had a baby and he got rid of everything. But he gave me a complete Super Six setup for my car. First question is, anyone ever put one of these on a 1960 style valiant and will it fit as far as hood clearance and all??? Second question is, should i installl it? Would it benefit me? This is an everyday driver so no hot rod stuff needed. Just power for hills and cheap on gas is what im going for. What kind of improvements, if any, should i expect? |

If the Carter BBD carb (the most likely one) is in good shape, it should get you more mileage and more power than the 1bbl. I think hood clearance should be OK, but I have no experience with that combo. Lou |

You will want to get a new cable throttle to go with the BBD..... |

Cant change the cable. Car dont have a cable. As a matter of fact the design for the 1960 is different than other models all together. I may have to build something. |

Howdy, I've done this conversion, it can require a bit of cobbling. I did it as a pre-fabbed project, and installed it one day with little trouble. I had a photo set of the job, but dropped that album last year. However, if you're anywhere near Los Angeles you're welcome to come by and take a look sometime. |

I swapped in the whole gas pedal and cable from a 69 Dart. |

Likely the easier way to go.
