Are Australian slant six heads all the same? Will they interchange with my '67 225 head? Do they have the spark plug tubes or newer design? thanks, Brian |

My understanding is that all Aussie Slant heads are drool tube type and will fit your 67 just fine. Lou |

interesting and helpful information, thank you. What about their blocks, did they use forged crank (old style) that will bolt up to my tranny or do I need a sleeve/adapter? They made some interesting variations on the body style. thanks all, briian |

Yep...all our heads were drool tube, all cranks forged, early 3 freeze plug and later 5 plug blocks. Never had peanut heads, we had the Hemi 6 by then. Now as far as the pilot hole in the rear of cranks goes,I believe we had both, the later 5 freeze plug blocks had the change in crank holes. But please don't quote me on dates etc,I'm sure Dan would be the man to know that, but I think it was like 1968 when we had the different pilot holes?? At that point we dropped the torqueflite trans and got the Borg Warner 35 trans, I assume to boost local manufactured content. Externally the main difference is an oil pump with external lines running around to a remote filter mounted on the front LH side of the engine, not the best for oil cooling as the line runs quite close to the exhaust manifold!! We also had local manufactured alternators, carbs and distributors at various stages of production. Hope that helps, like I said,I'm sure Dan would have much better details on the dates etc. cheers |
