I have gathered all the Hard parts for my brake conversion, and when the weather gives me a break, I'll get started.
Plan is to replace (4) wheel 9" drums with 11.75" front discs and 10" rear drums(moving up to LBP). 15 x 7 wheels with 4.25" Backspacing.
My main question has to do with time constraints, as this is my daily driver. What will happen if I swap the rearends one weekend, then rebuild the front the next. Drive around with 10" rear drums and 9" front? Will it just be a rearend lock-up situation, or worse? (I drive about 15 miles a day, and never much over 35 mph. Small town living :D )

Awfully gutsy doing this without a backup car.... you already have the different drive shaft for that rear end? Are your alignment places open while your gong to be doing this?

You'll probably be ok, the rear will just be tail happy when braking. Use the smaller then normal brake cylinder in the rear. You can always change it later but you'll probably still leave it that way with discs up front.

Thanks! Yes, I have the smaller wheel cylinders for the rear. No alignment worries for the rear end, but when I do the front end, I'm only a couple of miles from a Good shop that is open on Saturdays!
The driveshaft measures the same. I won't have to swap the driveshaft until I move to the 1966 transmission (and away from the B&T)

I've been running my '63 for a lot of years now with this sad setup, 9" drum front, 10" drum rear.

It stops fine until you have to stop fast, then that rear locks up quick.

I've been meaning to do the small wheel cylinder trick, but I may just swap the 10"s for some 9"s and be done with it.

If a adjustable brake valve is in the works, you can install that tooo.....

Thanks Ed, that's a good idea, but I was only planning to use the 13/16"-bore wheel cylinders on the rear drums. No proportioning valve.
