Hello my comrades! Been a little out of touch, but I now have an Amazon Fire tablet. Anyway,
My '78 Volare has an 8 & 1/4 differential with 3:55 gears. For me, this ratio is just too much, so I have decided to go back to a more reasonable ratio, so my Volare will be more highway friendly.
I may just order from Randy's Ring and Pinion, unless someone happens to have one lying around? Possibly for trade?
Let me know Bros!

Wes! I will have a set of 8 1/4 2.2:1 gears soon! I am swapping them out of my brother's Duster. I doubt you want them though.

Reed,
Thanks for the offer, but I would prefer 2:76 gears.
Thanks anyway!

That is what I figured. 2.2 gears are insane. You would need the torque of a big block and flat ground to live happily with them.

Don't forget that the 8 1/4 gearsets from trucks, vans, and jeeps will work all the way into the 90s.

Maybe this should be in 'Parts Wanted', but anyway I have a complete 8 1/4 w/2.76 open diff and 11" drums out of an A38 Volare, along with all the rear sway bar stuff and some KYBs.
I know it's far from TX, but it's in my way so...

Sounds to me like somebody building a salt flats car could use those.

sixinthehead,

If you really need to move that 8.25 rear out of your way, I may be able to accomodate you. We work out in ole-Kaintuck all the time; even installed in a couple of sites in Tompkinsville....(We are Bluegrass Cellular contractors.)

PM me if you like and we can talk. I gotta see how wide that thing is.

Regards,
Mark B.
