our 1983dodge ram 100 has a factory 727, I found the invoice from dodge to the dealership in the glove box, it has all the options including the 727 transmission listed, it also has a aluminum ring (flat like) washer taped to it with some numbers stamped on it...what that anywho?

I don't have numbers for you, but in my almost 20 years of playing with slants I have only ever had my hands or eyes on TWO slant six specific 727. They are out there, but they are uncommon.

That aluminum ring with numbers is your key code for the door and ignition locks.

Actually, I have seen quite a few, in "fleet" (EI: police/taxi/etc) vehicles.

Friend of mine took a slant 727 to the recycler because he couldn't sell it.

Am I missing something here? or does this actually have some relevance to the slant 6 727 Discussion?

Greg

I was simply letting him know that tag was most likely his key code for the truck.

I'm a noob with my first slant six in my '86 Ram 150 Royale SE--it has an automatic in it--what do I have? What is the more common automatic?
Where would I look to determine what trans I have?

Biggy; You could try here; http://www.mymopar.com/downloads/transguide.pdf

The shape of the trans pan will tell you.

Even on this side if the pond, I have the impression that a great number of vans and trucks came with a 727 behind the SL6. It may have to do with local vehicle weight classifications.

I recently switched my 727 for a 904LA plus an extra converter. A 727 is noticeably heavier than a 904.

I've had a few of them, both standard and lockup. I sold 1, the rest I had to give away.

Yeah, the aluminum disc with the paperwork sounds like the key numbers to me also.
