NAPA has a 9 1/4 diaphragm clutch set for my 65 Dart:

Will this drop the clutch pedal effort from the one that I currently that is a 9 1/4 B&B lever design?

Has anyone ever installed this NAPA clutch set?

I'm not interested in racing but need to get the pedal effort down.

I have already installed a hydraulic clutch master cylinder & slave cylinder and the clutch pedal effort dropped to 3/4 of the stock Z bar linkage arrangement (which the levers on the torque tube broke twice in "clutch" moments thankfully without damage).

But I need to get the pedal effort down some more to make my knee a happy camper.

NAPAs listing show the cove as a 6 spring diaphragm stye???
That does not make sense to me so you may need to confirm what you are getting.

Post subject:  Wasn't a Diaphragm

I ordered the NAPA diaphragm clutch set and had them open it on the counter.....sure enough it was the wrong description so they got to keep it since it was the 3 lever B&B style.

Turns out this is a LUK 05-003 that is miss advertised in every location I could find posted on EBAY.

So I'm turning my sights to the Ranger diaphragm arrangement that Jerame_c put together and posted in and around Dec 2012 and last updated how it was working in Aug 2014

The slant flywheel needs to be drilled and the combination of Ranger diaphragm PP and 10 inch B&B clutch disc seem to work for him over the testing period of two years. I'm thinking a balance may be needed for the assembly too after the drilling?

I just wonder how the pedal forces changed when combining the larger 10 inch diaphragm against a 9 1/4 B&B?

I Suspected That would happen as Doc had Stated.

I have Had Success with the Ford Style 10" Diaphragm cover in a mcleod Version on my dart and on the Volare Driver.

Do you have the overcenter spring installed above your clutch pedal to assist in the clutch action?

On the volare yes... on the dart no... I had the pedal stick to the floor on one pass so I removed it.

In my 65 Dart the overcenter spring is installed and appears to be working however it's possible that it's gotten fatigued after years of use.....I have been thinking of adding a much lighter booster spring in parallel with experimentation until the pedal finally goes to the floor and sticks there and then backing off to the next lighter booster spring.

Anyone try this parallel booster spring concept?

No, but I used to run one of the HD overcenter springs for a while and that cured any of the pedal sticking to the floor funny business...

I then swapped to a diaphragm clutch and took it out since it didn't help anything at all and forced pressure on the TOB to ride too much on the diaphragm fingers.

Diaphragm clutch and no overcenter spring was much easier than stock B&B 9 1/4" with overcenter and the hydro clutch actuator would be easier than those.
