I found a rebuilt cylinder head for my 225 engine at Advance auto for $318 outright or return core for $50. Are there heads any good and is this a good prices with valves?

Unless I were in truly desperate need and the only thing that mattered was having a cylinder head, any cylinder head, right this minute…I'd not touch a parts store item like this with the proverbial 3.048-metre pole.

I have seen "production shop" heads that were a pretty good value but it was a "you got what you paid for" deal.

Most have been dis-assembled, cleaned, the used valves had been re-faced and the guides were knurled to get them tight again. The head is reassembled with the used retainers, keepers & valve springs, with spring shims added, along with new valve stem seals. Done.

The "better" ones were resurfaced with a "clean-up" cut and some even have all the guides sleeved and the used valve stems ground undersize to fit.

When I get one of these heads, I check the cc's, then dis-assemble & redo everything. Basically... I get the cleaning and a set of new valve stem seals for my money. ( and maybe a surface job & some lined & undersize guides to work with)
