| Post subject: | super six kickdown or lokar cable? |
I've been struggling to find a super six kickdown for my 72 dart with a 2 bbl manifold or carb. my kickdown cable has warped and worn out due to the heat of my exhaust pipe and is starting to malfunction. can anyone provide a better solution to my problem by suggesting a better kickdown cable or point me in the direction of an original kickdown for sale? |

Lokar's use a teflon liner. Infact I think they are just -3an stainless teflon braid hose with the fittings crimped on the ends. There are cheaper knockoffs on ebay but they use some other sort of plastic. They are even more susceptible to heat. Lokar's will last a lifetime if you have a reasonable air gap around them. Either yours were just too close to the exhaust or you need to insulate your pipes. For that matter the knockoffs work well too if kept away from heat. Here's a thought - how about sliding some of those radiant heat sleeves made to protect plug wires over the cables? |

Original Super Six kickdowns have been heading upward in price for awhile; they regularly go for $150+. I've got an original Super Six kickdown in Seattle; I was just about to say "send me a PM", but I see you already have, and I failed to answer it!  Sorry, I'll go do so now.

If you are handy you could easily adapt a stock kickdown cable off of some other vehicle. |

I have a Lokar kickdown cable on my Volare's slant six, been working great for over 12 years. As others have said, you could use a cheaper Lokar knockoff. Or an original. |

I read somewhere 93-98 V8 Grand Cherokee can work for A727.

I'd spring for the Lokar and call it a day. It has all the hardware, springs, a bracket. I didn't use the bracket, but the cable seems to be high quality. One note, be careful and don't crank the fittings too hard, they're aluminum and can break. That said, you don't have to tighten them too tight, I just got overzealous on mine. I broke part of the threaded tube portion off, but it still works fine with the remaining portion. brian |
