I remember seeing a post, IIRC, regarding moving the slant rearward. Doc, can you refer me to the thread. I can't seem to find it using search. Much appreciated. |

Engine set-back discussions are in a few different threads... Try: http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... uda#166896 with the early chassis, I use a a later 67 and up drivers side mount bracket with elongated bolt holes and then modify the passenger side bracket by welding on some extra width. The trans mount position also needs to be modified but that can be done by sandwiching in a plate with 2 sets of hole patterns. DD

Interesting. Can this be done in reverse to shift the motor forward for purposes of installing a transmission adapter to mount a four speed automatic? I know on A bodies this would involve abandoning the stock radiator fan and changing to an electric pusher fan in front of the radiator. |

I relocated my 1968 Dart motor forward 5/8" using this method to install the A500 auto in that car (2001) with the 1.1" thick factory adapter plate. Lou |

This method would work for the pre-73 cars...spool mounts would be a bit more 'fabrication' and fore thought involved...although the transmission spool mount is much more forgiving than the sandwich mount since the spool mount comes with oblong holes in the first place....Putting the truck bell and the transmission adaptor plate at the rear of the bell, just took a little die grinder work on the oval slots to take up the extra width of the adaptor on that conversion....
