Hi everyone.....this question doesn't relate to a slant six project,but I'm in the market for a 5 speed stick trans for another project and Im keen to hear people's experiences with either of these trans. The engine is around the 450 HP mark and will be primarily a highway driver, hence the need for a 5 speed. I've heard the Tremec TKO600 can have shift issues and I've heard of breakages at higher power levels,but the Richmond also seems to get mixed reports regarding quality.particulary shifting and overall workmanship. You can read all day on the internet and over here in Australia the Tremec seems to have the market,but I know a lot of you guys are racers and may know of people using these trans and would greatly appreciate any feed back on either....thanks ! |

I have heard the Richmond is stronger but does not shift as well. I have heard no bad things about the Tremec. I would think it would stand up to 450 HP, but have no personal experience. What is the rating of the one you are looking at? If you are not racing the Richmond shifting issues would not come into play. Sam |
