Post subject: | After the rebuild ... lifters |
Hi all, Having recently done the cam break-in on my new engine, I checked that the lifters were turning (idle 500rpmish) and noted that one spins really fast, most were just turning away steadily and that a couple of them kept hesitating for an instant as they turned. I have had a dig around the net but I cannot figure out if this is fine or a cause for concern? Cheers |

As long as all the lifters are spinning... you are good to go. They will spin at different speeds, based on a combination of angle on the cam lobe & crown on the lifter face. The lifter(s) that spin the fastest have the least amount of combined angle / crown so the contact (load) point is out closer to the outer edge of the lifter. The slower ones will actually speed-up a bit as the contact surface "wears-in" a little. DD |
