What is the best way to block off the choke hole in the exhaust manifold? I am going to use a cable instead. |

It does not need to be blocked off unless you don't like the look of it. A simple sheet of steel and a bolt will do the trick. Greg |

I have the open to the port one I tried to put the cup and gasket on the opening and it leaks. I will make a block off sheet metal cover. I an thinking of replacing the manifold but this one is not cracked and seals to the head. |

That would be the most fool proof, I have seen the "shade tree" version where they put a crap load of Hi-temp RTV to seal it and put the cup in place...

I used 1/8" bar stock trimmed to shape. Because I couldn't find the original-type gasket, I trimmed a shape out of an old header gasket that was lying around. After a few trial and error sessions, it hasn't leaked in about 3-years. If I had to do it again, I would go with something a little thicker and with a better, flatter surface than the bar stock. |

Thanks all I think the 1/4 or 3/16 flat plate will work |

Okay, I dont think I have seen an open cup type one of those.. ya learn something new everyday. I guess you could an old choke rod thermostat component ad cut the rod off and weld it shut then bolt it to the manifold too. Greg |
