Being that I, according to my doctor, am not supposed to strain or lift anything heavier than a gnat turd, I walked my wife through taking the carb apart installing a the new float. She had never even seen a carburetor so kudos to her for volunteering to get dirty and give it a try. It took a little adjusting but I am happy to report that the /6 is running like a Hemi now, ummmmmm, a 105 horsepower Hemi that is. It is definitely running much better than before. It does still have a bit of hesitation every once in a while under hard acceleration from a stop. This was the case before the carb repair as well. Will probably dive into the ignition next. The $12.00 Tomco float off Ebay does indeed work. It is not the same exact shape as the original, but after some minor adjustment it was good to go! The new motor mounts and shocks on the front have made a big difference in the way the dart rides as well. Got it out on the road for about 2 hours today and it drove like a new 1973 car should! Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their help and input over the last couple of months! |
