Well my aftermarket radio works when my truck is running. thing is thats only when it works. Not running no radio, seems like my battery is dead but cranks right up. Also when I put my truck in gear the radio turns off but right back on in like 3 seconds. It's a hard jurk when it's put in gear |

Sounds like you have connected you main radio power supply to a switched lead and the connection is loose, or your ground is loose. |

I concur with Reed, something is loose or flopping around. Radio should be connected to ACC circuit which is hot only when key is only in ACC & ON position. Check wire diagram for which terminal on fuse block to tap into, and fuse feed from fuse block to radio as required by manufacture. Also be sure radio chassis is securely attached to a good ground under dash either by mechanical connection to body sheet metal or grounding conductor jumper of sufficient gage between radio chassis and a good known ground under dash. |

Check the connections as said. But it could be a newer radio that senses changes in input voltage and automatically turns on and off. Lower system voltage when cranking, not running, or when dropped into gear might cause it to turn off. Try idling with the radio on, and then turn on the headlights and heater blower and press the brake pedal all at the same time to drop the voltage and see if the radio goes off. |
