I'm going to run a 80mm turbo on my slant. First question, do I even need a high volume oil pump? If so, where should I procure one? Should I use a belt driven? |

Was waiting for others to chime in. In my experiance, with an old Rajay turbo, a high volume oil pump, is neither required, nor wanted. I just ran a stock type aftermarket pump, which is a higher volume the the OEM pump, but not as large as the high volume pump. This helps keep the load off the gear. Many people have had problems with oil pump/cam gears loosing their teeth. Quite a few racers, have gone to a external belt driven pump to eliminate that problem, but I don't know if that is a viable solution for a street car. |

Hmm... So I'm probably just better off running a 15% higher volume replacement? I think I saw one available that's about $90 |

My opinion,,,when you reach the 300hp level the weak link that will destroy a engine is the gear driven oil pump.I run a Daily external pump and dont worry. |

i dont think it's the Power Level of the engine that's the Issue here... Probably more of an RPM issue. Just get a Single Stage Belt Driven external Pump and Be done with all the worry and Once you get it set up... it will be good for quite a while and serve your purposes. Used single stage external pumps come up on ebay all of the time. Greg |
