Is the '72 and older strut rod different than the 73-76?

I just swapped out my '67 K frame for the newer 73-76 but the only piece I didn't get in the newer style was the strut rods, I thought they were the same, no?

thanks all,

Brian

I used '75 bars in my '65 and didn't notice any difference. The only difference that I can see is the rubber isolator.

There is a difference in threading on the late strut rods vs. the 60's rods... so make sure you have the matching nuts for the donor rod...

We just went through this on Bill's '70 Dart. He had one bent and I gave Patrick one off the Feather I parted out. It was shorter IIRC.

See this thread:

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/sho ... p?t=207605

There's also a good pic of the ends in this thread: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/sho ... p?t=169624

They are the same length, yes the threads on the front are coarse on the newer ones, but the key difference is where the stop sits for the washer and how long the portion is for the spacer that goes over the shaft. With my '67 rods the threads run out too soon and I'm up against the spacer, any more and I'll start crushing the spacer.

And if the distance between the LCA end and the stop for the washer is about 1/4 inch (from the pic at least) shorter doesn't that change my alignment ability/put undue stress on the LCA by pushing it back too far?

Post subject:  bushing kits differ too

The Moog bushing kit fit the '76 strut rods perfectly, but I had another poly bushing kit (it was in the trunk when I bought the car) and it had longer metal sleeves, but the ploy bushings were the same thickness as the Moog rubber ones - didn't fit right. FYI, Moog is pretty good stuff.
