I am missing the kickdown rod from the Holley 1945 carb for a '85 D150 . As all the the parts of the kickdown from the bellcrank to the transmission appear to be there, I think I can make this part. Does anyone has a photo of how this part looks, how long it should be ?

Without the kick down connected, will there be damage to the transmission when idling in neutral?

I have an 85 d150 that is setup with the kickdown rod you are referring to. I can try and get a picture some time ,but getting it actually posted up here may never happen (I will try). I have a shop full of Mopars and am not that far away from you in San Marcos/Wimberley area. You are more than welcome to come by and take a look in person at the Truck for reference and take pics.

Another option would be a lokar cable setup maybe.. 8)

It needs to be able to run from the throttle linkage to the throttle valve, and to have a length adjustment on the end of it. The required length is such that there is no play or slack when it's finally adjusted, and it needs to be able to move about and inch or so, which is the throw of the throttle bracket.

As for idling without it in place, you should be fine. The throttle valve on the transmission defaults to idle, and it has its own return spring.

Just don't go driving around without it, too much above idle. If you do then you could burn out your bands.

Anyway the rod is really simple, just a few bends in it, so i'm sure you can do it.

Here's a video you want to see.

It's all about the kickdown / throttle valve linkage.

Hope it helps you out.

I found someone with the similar setup. I'm going to make something that works the same. Everything from the bell crank down is present, or I'd go with the Lokar.

See this thread for kickdown options.

This is what it is supposed to look like on the D150

Except with a spring holding the kick down rod snug to the top of that slot in the arm coming down from the carb.

I found the missing throttle pressure rod, stuck up under the fender. It is about 7-9/16-inch in length. The slot is 2-1/2-inch in length.
