I think I might have found the cause of the intermittant misfire on my 66 Valiant. Of course I have thought I had it solved, before. Over the last few years, I have changed, literally, everything on the engine, including, 3 different engines. I came to the conclusion, the problem had to be in the original vehicle wiring, so time to rewire the complete car. Started at the front. Removed the wiring from the bulkhead connector forward. Every one knows how good the factory bulkhead connector is, RIGHT? Never have any problems with it, RIGHT? Guess what, mine must have been made on a Monday . Total disaster. Most of the terminals were "toast". Why didn't I check that first? |

Chased that on the red car. It was the blue wire that runs to the ballast. It was an intermittent issue with the car dieing. |

That's good Charlie. I know you chased it long enough. Your post reminded me to order new Packard locking connectors for the bulkhead terminal block on my 66 Dart and 62 Valiant. They both have corroded connectors in them. Ron |

I will make a suggestion, that anyone working on older Mopars, check the bulkhead connector, and ammeter connections, early on. Everyone knows, or should know, these are problem areas. Don't ask me why I never checked this, before. Would have saved me a lot of time, and frustration. KISS Keep It Simple Stupid |

I have had problems with those on my dart and valiant at one time or another. The dart had melted a fusible link one time and had sporadic issues until I cleaned them.. The OE wiring is gone on ruster so there's no more worries there. Greg |

I am in the process, of a total rewire on the Valiant. The only factory wiring still on the car is the rear light harness. That will be gone, after I rewire the rest of the car so I can run at M-D. |

So far so good. The engine ran flawlessly at Mason-Dixon. Did not skip a beat. Had a couple of minor issues, with too small a fuse in a couple of circuits, but got that resolved. Not conclusive, yet, as it has run good, for a couple of meets, in the past, but I am confidant. |

I only wish we could have had a couple more time shots. I would have liked to try the nitrous. Unloaded off the trailer with a 14.51. Never touched the "tuneup" all weekend. Tried some different shift points, and launch RPM. Only had 15 degrees total timing (set for spray),and got a best of 14.43 at 80 mph. I like this motor |
