Does anyone know if the two are interchangeable?( will heads, intake/ exhaust manifolds etc etc) or how I can find out if they are. I'm assuming they are but am not certain. I found an engine/auto trans on line for $250. It turns but hasn't started in years. Thinking of rebuilding it so I can still drive my Dart. Can anyone see any drawbacks to doing a complete rebuild of the 67 /6 then dropping it in my 73 ? Would it be advisable to keep one as a spare?..Not sure if this is a concern where others live, but wreckers around me don't keep anything more then 15 years old, so if my slant bites it, I'm SOL. Thanks in advance |

The '67 crank won't accept your '73 torque converter as the hole in the crank is too small. You can swap in the engine/trans together no problem. Almost everything else interchanges. |

You could swap cranks between the 73 and 67 engines or get the 67 crank machined to the larger diameterwhile the motor is being rebuilt. |

thank you...would one motor/tranny have any advantage over the other if a total rebuild was going to done?..

Assuming that you were going with more compression and an aftermarket cam on a ground up build, either block is fine, either head will work fine after you install new valves and seats (although the 1973 head may a have a slightly small combustion chamber volume stock compared to the 67, so less milling may be needed to get your target numbers). If it were a question of stock engine with a rering/regasket you took care of the crank pocket thing, the 1973 engine stock would have the better camshaft, but that's about it on a side to side comparison. |

Now begins the hard part of learning what and how to change/rebuild everything. At least I can still drive my Dart while I take my time to do the spare engine up right..no rush . |

Keep the 1967 cam and have the lobe profile reground. You can save some money and wind up with a good cam. |

great idea..thanks Reed...probably end up keeping one complete engine as a spare or for parting out down the road. Hard to locate original parts up this way. |
