Hey Ya'all I have not been on here in a while. I parked my D-100 project due to lack of enthusiasm but now want to get it up and running. The current carb on my truck needs to be rebuilt so I was thinking throttle body conversion. I want something to literally bolt on if at all possible. Nothing fancy just reliable so I can drive my truck. Easy and simple is what I am looking for. I figured with all the knowledge and experience on here I will get some suggestions of what works easiest and still be cost affective. Thanks! |

Fixing the carburetor is your lowest effort and lowest cost route. There is nothing else that bolts on directly. |

Assuming you are referring to the 1987 dodge truck listed in your signature, Josh is right, but you likely should also remove the lean-burn system and replace the ignition and carb with non-lean burn parts. HEI ignition is the way to go and a late 70s non-computerized Holley 1945 would be a good candidate for a replacement carb. |

Thanks Josh and Reed for the advice. Yes it is the truck in my signature. It has an 85 engine not 87. The lean burn crap was put on in the early 80's correct? How far back in the 70's do I need to go? If my memory serves me it was 75 when you started seeing the lean burn stuff on the Mopar products. Thanks for your help. |

If you can score a four barrel intake such as Clifford or Offy, you can put Holley Projection on it fairly easily. But this is not cheap or quick. Sam |

I can tell you that Holley Projection will not be an easy install and it will take modifications and lots of tuning to get it to run well. I have done three different EFI conversions on Slants and none of them were easy or "turn key" in any way. I like to tinker... a lot. Megasquirt running a TBI off a 3.5-4.5 L engine would be the easiest from my perspective. Probably the best thing would be to get a known good Carter BBD 2 bbl, or a Holley 350 2bbl with electric choke on an Offy intake w/2 to 4 bbl adapter plate from Mr. Gasket. Lou |

Lou likes to tinker a lot is an understatement. I have done 2 megasquirt installs.. one ms ii running fuel and ign.. and an ms3 running ign only at this point. I still tinker and tune on em! Greg |

First big challenge with EFI is fuel pressure and a return line. The tuning is a long process that can takes years. Keep in mind oem engineers have budgets of millions to work this out, not to mention the college degrees behind it. I would likely still be tuning and running poorly if Lou had not helped me out many times. Sam |

Sam They also have engine labs and data acquisition equipment that can vary load and temperature to test the maps of everything! And there is a team of them working on this stuff in a controlled environment. Greg |
