Post subject:  Early A-Body transmission tunnels

What differences are there in early A-body transmission tunnels? I already know that 4-speed cars are different. Are there any differences other than that? For example, will a 727 or 904 auto fit where a 3-speed column-shift manual once resided without cutting up the tunnel? I'm guessing the 904 will fit, but I'm not sure on the 727. Hopefully somebody can enlighten me on this.

I know that a 904 will replace a 3spd or 4spd with no problems, column or floor shift, any year car. I am pretty sure that a 727 will go in too, but not positive. There is no reason to run a 727 in an A-body anyway, so you are safe with the 904 swap.

Hope this helps,

Lou
