Dear Slant 6 Sages,

I am looking to replace my 51 year old window channel weatherstrip, where the front and rear door glass rides (sides and top). I am trying to get more of the rattles worked out of my car.

I see lots of universal stuff online with measurements, but this might take some time with samples and trial and error. Does anyone have a good source for a universal channel that fits these cars, or a kit? This is a 4dr sedan, so really I would prefer to get a big roll of this stuff and just cut to fit.

I'd like to do this on my '68 Dart 4dr sedan as well, so a source for that would be great too.

Here is a site that shows types and sizes:
http://afproducts.automotivefairchild.c ... n-channels?

Thanks very much,

Lou

I have been working on the same thing on my DeSoto. ....only 64 years old.

The same whiskers and channels are on my 65 Valaint.

I have been looking at more modern solutions for crappy old seals.

I am still playing with the window whiskers and channel rubbers with my focus landing on the quality stuff my Roadmaster donor cars are providing.

The GM rubber wipers are far superior to the Chryco whiskers but require a totally different system of mounting. I plan to do that this winter when I re woodgrain the upper door panels.

I used GM door seals to replace the crappy DeSoto trunk seal and Im very happy.....no leaks ever. The DeSoto door jambs will get the same seal as time permits.

I used a vendor called Rubber The Right Way for my window seals. They supplied me Steele products for less than Steele Rubber price.

They can get the full line of Steele Rubber stuff and are great to deal with. ( They remind me of dealing with Smith Bros Pushrods)

Thanks, guys. Will check those places out. I think this is one item that almost no one with a sedan Valiant or Dart ever replaces, so a bit harder to find.

All the best,

Lou

I did replace all of mine when the car was apart for paint along with the cat whiskers. Ask me where I got the window channels at?

I have no clue!!
