I took SlantSixDan's words to heart, "That is what exhaust shops are for". I looked for the thread where he said that and could not find it, but remembered it. I found a local shop that bent new pipes from the down pipes to the muffler, installed new mufflers, and fit the existing tail pipes to all that. I looks beautiful, is quiet, and there are no leaks and or rattles and bumps from pipes hitting various things both at idle and going over speed bumps. This included two new, stock mufflers, new exhaust pipes, repositioned the tail pipes, and cut them shorter so they did not stick out so far in the back. All is heavy duty aluminized pipe. It took him 4 hours to do the work, and he charged me $600 total. I considered it a fair deal, and would do it again in a heart beat. Getting rid of the leaks and banging going over speed bumps was the best part, but having the exhaust tone quiet now is nice as well. I had put the existing exhaust on myself years ago, and it was never right. Let's face it, the guys who do this every day for a living have made all the mistakes already, on other peoples cars, so they will know what they are doing, and do yours right with a minimum of fuss. I got the referral from a friend (also named Sam) who I know from the local cruise-ins. Sam |

Sounds great, Sam. I always try to find a new exh shop when I move somewhere. Lots of word of mouth recs usually helps. Have a great guy in Salem, VA. I'll say that with the lift and welder, I am getting pretty good at exh work too... Lou |

Sam if you were a little closer I could have hooked you up to a great shop with really really good prices. He did a complete exhaust system front to rear on my truck with a different routing than stock, in 2 1/2" pipe, new stainless steel turbo muffler, all for $180 including labor. Rick |

Sounds good. Maybe Ill make the trip up next time. Thanks for the tip. It would be worth the drive up. However, this was two mufflers and exhaust pipes plus DC prices. I am sorry I did not have him put an "H" pipe in while he was at it. Maybe your guy could do that sometime. Sam |
