I'm not sure if this question has been asked, I've used the search feature to check, but haven't seen much on it. Has anyone attempted to use a Jeep 4l straight 6 head on a 170/198/225 slant 6 engine. I'm asking this, because the 4l heads are in abundance, and can be had in aluminum form from Summit and Jeggs? Additionally, the mid 90's intakes are already previssioned with fuel injector bosses. So converting a slant to EFI, might be easier using the 4.l head and intake. Either way I'll figure out how to go about setting up EFI on my slant, just thought I'd ask the question.

The Jeep head is no where close to fitting a slant six block.

Just about every cylinder head in North America and Europe has been analyzed and critiqued. Just click on the search button for this site and pop a cold one. There's lots of good reading on the subject. but there are none that are easily adapted to a slant.

There was an aluminum head for the Jeep Tornado overhead-cam 230 cubic inch Six. That should bolt right on. If you can't find one, just grab three cylinder heads from a Subaru 2.2 or 2.5 flat-four. If you get the right gasket, you can drop those right onto the slant by the side of the road using nothing but two screwdrivers and 1/2" and 9/16" wrenches, and be done in time to drive home for dinner.

(What? You don't believe me? Well, maybe if you'd stop being such a Debby Downer and have some enthusiasm!)

Dan's such a liar. Subaru heads are metric. You'd need a 12 and 14mm wrench.

Did Lou end up with the OHC conversion that used the Pinto timing belt to drive the cam off the back?

That set-up looked like a decent upgrade. I too wonder whatever happened to that set-up.
