Post subject: | Carter BBD Linkage Springs |
Hello again. I'm shopping around and doing my homework as I'm getting the small nitty-gritty bits down to do a Super Six swap on my '72 hopefully this coming weekend. I have a great Carter BBD and all of the linkage, but I do not have the two springs that you need. Anyone know where I can find these for sale? I've been trying to search around online parts stores but haven't found anything. Any chance I can reuse the springs from my Holley 1920 or should I keep looking? Thanks! |

To get a helpful answer, please specify exactly what springs you have in mind. Describe their approximate sizes and exactly where they hook up at each end. |

![]() The two springs seen here. One connects to the bracket bolted onto the intake and to the carb (on the left, throttle return spring?) and the spring that connects to the transmission kickdown rod and through the banana clip. My setup is in pieces on the bench right now, not sure of the length between each. Matv91: Yes, those look to be about right, and looking around I see they have a variety of types and lengths. I guess I was looking too specifically and nothing was showing up! |

Post subject: | Another Source For Throttle Return Springs |
Take a very close look at the throttle return spring on the left side of your picture; it appears to be two springs in that one location. QuadrajetParts.com dual spring 4202B are 4 inch long (loop to loop) and fit my BBD setup real fine. The dual springs likely are a safety thing.....if one breaks or disengages the other acts as a temp backup until you can get things repaired? Obviously your installed distance (one end loop to other end loop) needs to be greater than 4 inches for these springs to work well right down to the idle position. Have you measured the install distance loop to loop length? |
