Post subject:  Fastest/easiest way to pull motor/trans/k-frame/steering?

I need to pull the engine, trans, k-frame, and front suspension/steering from a wrecked 68 Dart. I need to get this done as quickly and easily as possible.

Here is what I am thinking- jack stands under the rockers, remove the rear trans brace, pull the driveshaft, put a jack under the K frame, cut the inner fenders from the firewall, cut the frame rail mounts out of the floor, and the entire front end should just drop off, right?

I will, of course, disconnect wiring, brake lines, and steering column.

Am I missing something? Is there an easier/safer/smarter way? Thanks for any input.

Been thinking about this, and came up with option #2:

Option #2:

Jack stands under the rockers towards front of car
Remove the driveshaft
Support transmission with trans jack
Remove steering column
Disconnect fuel line from frame rail
Remove front brake lines
remove wiring from engine bay
Unbolt the rear transmission support
loosen the torsion bar adjusters
Cut torsion bar mount out of floor
Cut Frame rails off of bottom of floor
Cut inner fenders from the firewall
Roll transmission/engine/k-frame/front clip assembly forward on front tires and transmission jack

Sound reasonable?

I would remove the driveshaft, transmission cross member, torsion bars, steering column and radiator. Remove the upper control arms from the body and remove the brake hoses. Lay the car and K-member on the ground. Take out the K-member bolts and lift off the body.

Hmmmm. I will have to see if I can figure out a way to lift the body. If I can get the height that might be a good option.

I once removed a engine, tranny, k-member and front suspension from a mazda rx4 by unbolting everything and lifting the front of the car off the assembly.....

And it only took 2 of us to lift it up too...

I just start cutting-up the sheet metal body... once all the mechanical stuff is unbolted...
The "big chunks" of cut-up sheet metal body can be easily moved, at that point.
The biggest & hardest piece to move around, by myself, ends-up being the firewall / cowl assembly.
I use a woodsman's axe to cut thru most of the thin sheet metal and a "saws-all" for the thicker / multi layered sections.

Thanks Doc! I will have to see how strong I am feeling on the day I finally get around to pulling this stuff. I may try Josh's method if I am feeling strong, but I may go your route if I am feeling more my age.

Easier than I thought it would be!

Jacked it up under the K frame, put jack stands under the rearmost point of the front frame rails, unbolted the lower ball joints from the spindles, disconnected everything from the engine and trans, put a trans jack under the trans and strapped a floor jack to the K frame, undid the four trans crossmember bolts and the four K frame bolts, lowered the assembly to the ground.

Now to deal with the rest of the car....
