Post subject:  slant six from a combine

Is there anything that would keep me from using the slant from a combine to use in my son's car?

Just the combine itself. If you remove the engine from the combine and install the correct motor mounts, oil pan, oil pump pickup, dipstick tube, and carburetor, it should work just fine in a car.

One should make sure distributor has car friendly timing curve, and vacuum advance when adapting a stationary or constant rpm equipment engine.

Can't figure out what year engine this is. The engine ID plate that was bolted to the engine has a serial number A-225674C. The web has been no help. If it matters this engine was manufactured in Windsor Canada. Thanks for any help.

Our combine engine is a 69 and seems to be ok. My son and I are wanting to know what can we build with parts from a super six and from the 69? I've also found a new set of rods for a 198. Ideas please. We'd like to get around 150-175 horse.

Cam, carb, intake, exhaust, and distributor from the Super Six motor, 198 rods, 69 225 crank, special pistons to compete the "long rod" engine (do a search in this board for "long rod"), big valves (engnbldr on eBay), porting the head, HEI ignition, recurved distributor, mill the block to get true 8.2:1 DYNAMIC compression (this is different from static compression), 2 1/4 inch single exhaust to the muffler, 2 inch after the muffler.
