My cohorts, I have just acquired a free motor because I was after the exhaust manifold and was wondering if there are other parts I should be thinking of saving before I junk it? It's a '79-'80 engine and I am going to be rebuilding an early '62-'65 engine. I've read that the newer heads breathe better so that would be one thing to consider. Any other benefits from the newer vs. older engines? Thanks |

Why are you going to junk it? My $.02, get what you want off of it now, and then set it aside. I think you'll find what parts you want to use as you need them. You can never tell what you might want... |

If it has an original hrysler cam people will pay money for those, especially if it is still mated to the original factory oil pumpI have just acquired a free motor because I was after the exhaust manifold and was wondering if there are other parts I should be thinking of saving before I junk it? Thanks The rocker arms are good to have if they are in good shape The rocker arm shaft is desirable if someone is using a late 70s-87 head on an earlier engine without a hydraulic camshaft oil pan, valve cover, oil pump pickup, crank, block, pistons and rods are all worth saving. Distributor is worth saving too. Do you see where I am going with this? |

All I really needed was the exhaust manifold. Engine one has a rusty mangled JC penny's set of headers and engine two has a cracked manifold. If none of the other parts are "better" than the two early engines I have already then off to the scrap pile. This was a free engine and it's seized. I'm not going to delve any further into the reasons why it is seized if there are no added benefits to my rebuild. Free engine anyone? |

By the reference to the Duwamish people in your location, I am assuming you are located somewhere near Seattle? |

I am down in Tacoma. I might be interested in the free motor. Is it all stock other than the heads you are taking off it? |
