Do rallye wheel LBP centers fit in mopar cop car wheels same as they do rallye rims?

I think the answer is "yes" it appears the rims are the same in the center region, the cupped part looks the same, the cop car wheels just have those bumps (red arrow) on the raised ring to hold dog dish caps and there are no holes for the centers screws (green arrow points to where I'd have to drill for the screws to hold the centers). See: http://s785.photobucket.com/user/67dart ... 0.jpg.html

Thanks,

Brian

Looks like I'm correct for certain centers, not the later ones. See: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/sho ... hp?t=34828

Post subject:  Summit has a good price

some of these are like $60-70 per center, but Wheel Vintiques makes them for $37, see: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wvi-5001-1

Nice! I recently happened into a set of cop rims and I will be looking for something to dress up the centers.

When I was at Carlisle this Summer I tried to make the ralley centers fit the cop car wheels, and they do not. It seems the center contour of the cop wheels are the same as stock steel wheels. I would try the center caps that came on the later slotted wheels that showed up on the bigger Chryslers. I just bought the cheapest decent looking dog dish caps, which fit the cop wheels. Years ago when I had stock 14" sbp wheels on this car I had the same dog dish hub caps on them.

Post subject:  which centers?

Sam,

Which centers did you use? The A bodies only post said the 70-71 style only not the later ones (acorn style?) will work. They even show a car with the centers installed, and I've seen other pics of that. I'm curious to know as this seems like a good option for cop car wheels.

Also, the cop car wheels are the same as the older dodge Magnum wheels, so those centers will work, though they are nearly impossible to find.

Reed, I may order one of those Wheel Vintiques centers and try it on my cop car wheels.

Please do. I also would be happy to be a guinea pig and try different center caps if people would be willing to loan them to me. I would test fit them on my cop rims and take pictures and mail them back.

I have heard for years that the 71-72 Rally center caps fit the cop rims, but now I am hearing different. It would be nice to know a final answer to the question.

Scratch that guinea pig offer. I just discovered that all of the cop rims I got have no holes drilled to hold on center caps. It is poverty caps or nothing for me.

Post subject:  no holes...

Reed,

I was planning on drilling holes for the cap's screws. You only need three, though they have five, you could drill all five.

I'll test the fitment and provide feedback. Might not be right away, but I'll do it.

Unless Sam chimes in with more info on how/why they don't fit or other fitment pitfalls.

I am worried about getting the placement of the screw holes correct.

Post subject:  no worries...

If they fit, I'll make a template for the holes, you won't be able to miss.

If you look at the link I posted above, it shows somebody got the acorn style ones to fit but it appears they cut the outer shell portion off the center....

I like the acorn ones better, but not worth cutting them up. I also like the older '80's style Magnum/Supercoupe ones, but they are hard to find and pricey...

Hmmm, thanks. I have an extra pair of the chrome centers for the "Street van" and "Little Red Express" chromed steel slotted wheels. They look pretty good too and mount with three screws.

This would look better with a black or other color rim and some nice chrome acorn lug nuts.

I might grab a spare steel rim and try and make a template for drilling the cop rims out.

Post subject:  center ordered

Reed, I ordered a center, I'll check fitment this weekend and send pics if they fit.

Here is a link to an ebay auction on a set of supercoupe centers that will work:

Also, here is another pic of that 'cuda with the rallye centers on cop car wheels:

Oooooohh, those bolt look pretty cool! Let me know how your center cap fits. In the short term, I found a set of four perfect condition poverty caps on Craigslist for $5, so my cop wheels have those, for now.
