I have mine off for the engine rebuild at the present and it is showing some wear at the seal area. I am curious what can be used. It is the 1979 model engine.

Thanks

Take a look at my reply in the Engine Forum on May 24 to Callpaladin's question about his timing chain cover seal. I threw in a few photos, one of which is showing how to install a "micro sleeve" to repair the groove worn into the hub of
the harmonic balancer.

Maybe that will help answer your question.

good luck,
Jerry

If you are replacing your timing chain, you can order your cover gasket set with the sleeve, or you can buy it alone and they're cheap.

When you replace the seal with another brand, you will find that the lip usually makes contact with the damper in a different location than the original, so you might not even need a sleeve.
