Restoring 83 D150 Miser. Replaced head gasket, installed NOS OEM feedback carb. Couple of big probs; rats chewed engine wiring harness portion that head to distributor. Figured out which wire should(?) go to dist but the harness section has 3 wires, 2 at the end, one hot one not, and a couple inchs before that is another wire from the side of harness that is also hot. (all only when ignition key is on.) Plus there are 6 additional wires that were chewed on the same harness. Dont know which goes to which side of the distributor! Also does anyone have a bunch of photos of the engine showing all the vacuum lines etc? This has the electronic control on the air cleaner. Help!!!(Any help would be greatly appreciated) I am new to this site but will be a contributor as much as possible. Thanks |

I have an 83 FSM, will be tomorrow pm,I will post the electrical and vacuum diagrams,,maybe you are just putting together the wiring to get it running, if so that's Ok, but for a real fix you need to just do the HEI conversion. |

Thanks Dadtruck, any help is appreciated. I live in California so I have the headache of getting it to smog. This engines has so may smog devises it is crazy! Has dual canisters, dual vacuum solenoids, intake manifold air temp sensor, O2 sensor, air pump, etc. A real nightmare. So anything you can do to help me get it running is wonderful. After I get it running then I can fool with all the smog stuff. Curiously, turn signals, brake lites, tail and parking lights all work- headlights and windshield wipers do not. I am wondering if that is part of the chewed wires? Would it be worthwhile to invest in an engine wire harnesS? Thanks again. Will check this site tomorrow. |
