I bought a new dome light that came complete with full wiring and connectors. Does anybody know how the wire for this runs in a hardtop model? I have the headliner in of course, so cannot see it. If at all possible I would like to pull the new wire through, but do not want to do this if there is a risk of loosing the connection, or things getting hung up inside somewhere. I can simply cut the old wires, and splice if there is not a sure fire was to make this connection with new wires running the entire way. Thanks. Sam |

IIRC it is routed up through the the driver's windshield, then along the roof and across the roof support to the dome light. The wires are also clipped to the roof support. Easy to change if the headliner is out! Your best bet is to cut and splice the wires |

Here are pictures of the dome light wiring on my '65 Dart wagon. The hardtop wiring is the same, at least in '65. There are three clips where the wire goes from the light over to the driver's side edge of the roof, and a home in the roof frame where it goes into the A-pillar with a rubber grommet to keep the edges of the hole from rubbing through the insulation. I don't think there's any way of pulling it through without pulling the headliner down. ![]() ![]() |

In the later cars, it is routed along the roof and down the driver's side C-pillar and combines with the wiring harness running along the drivers side floor sill to the trunk and rear wiring harness. |

Thanks guys. I think I have to clip and splice here. I am not up to changing the head liner at this point. Sam |
