Currently living in Canada and am looking for contact info regarding the expert in whom I can send my '74 225 cylinderhead off to for the whole nine yards. Port, polish, valves, and resquare, de-burr, etc. If you know anyone who you trust, please let me know. Thanks. - A. Wilson |

Also, Canada is really big. It's a bigger landmass than the United States. Most of the population is in a thin band within about 120 miles of the US border, with major clusters in Montréal, Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver, but it's still…really big. Where in Canada are you located, sir? |

Baddest head porter on the planet for Slants is Mike Jeffrey. If you contact him soon you may still be able to make it on his list. (He only does heads after race and farming seasons are over) 308/324-3576 |

Is Mike Jeffery the unanimous decision on who's the best man for the job? There can't be just one expert... Can there? |

Nope, there's a lot more than just one. Mike J is very talented, but he is not the world's only and there's no grounds for saying he's the world's best. If I were building a race motor, he'd be on my list of head-builders to consider. If I were building a motor for street performance and efficiency, and for whatever reason I didn't want to use a local machine shop, I'd send a PM to Doctor Dodge, who has a long track record of building top-notch street heads (and oh yeah, he's also built good race motors, too). Understanding, of course, that this would mean shipping a cylinder head at least one direction. Which doesn't cost as much as you might guess, but would still add a chunk of bread to the overall project cost. |

It's not that I don't trust my local shops, it's their lack of experience with this specific engine that worries me. Out here in the praries, if you don't have eight cylinders, they couldn't be bothered to raise an eyebrow. It's actually kind of annoying. I've never been so sick of seeing small block Chevys and Hemis in my life. Shipping parts internationally doesn't sway me at all when I know they'll come back done right by a professional. |

Either Mike Jeffrey or Doug Dutra would be excellent choices. I cannot think of anyone better than those two for your goals. Doug has long experience and is right here on the site! Mike builds lots of street Slant heads and can tailor to whatever you want. Mike J: 308-324-3576 (home) Mike does not do internet, but is great on the phone. Best to leave a message if you do not get him on the first try. Happy building, Lou |

Thanks for the free advertizing! Lou Yes, I have done / do a lot of SL6 cylinder head work, mostly for street performance / high efficiency SL6 engine builds. And yes Mike J. also does great work and he is a better choice for all-out SL6 race head work. I do have a bunch of good used SL6 cylinder head "cores" on hand so that can help cut-down on shipping costs. DD |
